Quilt Marathon

A few weeks ago I went on a quilt-weekend, called Quilt Marathon, with some of my friends. We were 12 ladies that joined the fun. Everyone works on their own projects. Most of us had the sewing machine with us, while two girls only had handwork to do. I had two already started projects with me and one I wanted to start with. I began to sew on one of the started projects, but I couldn't get the border on the square as I wanted it to be, with mitered corners. I think I tried it seven times, sew and unsew, sew and unsew........ I got rather frustrated. The last time I was sewing this squares I got the mitered corners perfect..... and now I didn't make one corner as I wanted it to be. So, I put it back in the box and haven't opened the box since. Here you can also see the middle part of that quilt already finished and two of the squares I made before. This pattern I bought in Holland at Petra Prins. It is called "Cozy Bluez".
I also had some floral, a bit romantic, fabric with me, if I wanted to make a bag or something else. I also had this Japanese book I bought the same day the marathon began. This book contains patterns for bags, a lot of bags. I found one pattern that I liked and that my fabric was perfect for. I made the bag sides and embroider the seams by hand with emboidery thread. Then I used linnen fabric for the bottom ant the top of the bag, and also for the handles.

This is what the bag looks like finished.

After that I had time to start the project I had with me. It is I kind of BOM, but It was bought at the Houston Festival as a Shop Hop thing. It is made up of different stars in yellow, blue and green. I had two of the stars finished when the weekend finished.

I have a quilt that needs mitering as well - I bought a pretty border fabric to sash each block, and have had trouble ever since. It's been a UFO for a long time now.
I wish you well with yours. Have you considered making it without mitering?

The bag is really pretty - I love the fabric and the beautiful stitchery on it.

The blue and green blocks also look wonderful.
