Added borders to the Buckeye Beauty

I got several nice comments on my last post. Thanks everyone! I decided to do as Andi, Nancy and Lori suggests. A narrow burgundy border and a wider dark green border. Since it was three of you that suggested this I was sure it would be great. I was right about that! And you were right with the advices! I'm very satisfied with the result. I have to learn how to machine quilt peakock feathers or something other swirly quilting pattern.

As always my kitten want to lay down on the top when I shall photograph it.
Does anyone know what the name Buckeye Beauty means?

Wow, you took my advice rather quickly! :) It looks even more beautiful with the borders.
Buckeye is a tree, and also the inedible nut from the tree. There is also a candy made with peanut butter covered with chocolate that is made to look like the buckeye nut. It is also the name taken on by the Ohio State Buckeyes - a football team of the Ohio State University. Was the original quilt made up in scarlet (red) and gray? If so those are the teams colors. There is a house in our neighborhood that is scarlet and gray, and many people decorate rooms to commemorate the team.

The borders look great. Peacock feathers are very easy - give them a try.

The borders are just perfect Weronica. I always love the look of a narrow dark border to visually separate the piecing from the rest of the border. It gives the eye a nice place to rest. Looks like your quilty helper is busy testing the project!

Those borders look great. You work very quickly! Definitely give the peacock feathers a try. It is an easy freehand motif that ends up looking great. I use it a lot.

It's a beautiful quilt, and I think you got excellent advice on the borders. And the cat adds just that extra something special! ;)
